Hanukkah is just around the corner, and this is my answer for a sane version of it.

Homemade Vegan Chocolate Pralines

So much oil is being used during this holiday, and flour, and refined sugars. And yes, I would eat one or two Sufganiya during Hanukka (they are practically everywhere!), but if you ask me, I’d always prefer chocolate, preferacly a home made version of it, which will be amazing, and I can control it’s ingredients. Oh, plus it takes a minute to make.

There’s something about this creaminess of melted chocolate that melts the insides of me a bit as well..

You can make these as coins, then they’d be perfect for Hanukka, or thicker pralines (like in the pictures), or use any other silicon pan you own. If you don’t have any silicon pans, don’t worry! You can pour the batter on top of a baking sheet inside a wide pan, cool, then break to pieces with your hands. It is super fun.

If it’s not obvious yet, then this is a great activity to do together with your kids, there’s nothing here that requires you to be too gentle and they chocolates are hard to ruin.

The base for the chocolates is coccoa butter, it may look like white chocolate, yet it is not, it is flavorless (with a real mild aroma of chocolate) and very comfortable to work with.

First you melt the cocoa butter, mix with the rest of the ingredients, then it will harden while it cools and will create the perfect chocolate texture and the add-ins will provide the taste. About the add-ins, I provided some of my preferences, you can start with one, test the flavor, then play with the quantities (and other ingredients) as you wish. I use cocoa butter quite frequently thus you can find different recipes using it throughout the blog.

סוג מתכון: Dessert
מנות: 30
מרכיבים
  • ⅓ cup cocoa butter (I measure in the cup while the is still in it's solid state)
  • ⅓ cup nut butter, like almond butter, tahini, etc. I especially like the version with hazelnuts butter
  • 4 table spoons pure maple syrup
  • 1.5 table spoons cocoa powder
  • a pinch of salt
הוראות הכנה
  1. Melt the cocoa butter in a bain-marie (in a small pot over a large pot with hot water).
  2. Mix the cocoa butter with the rest of the ingredients. You can add some vanilla, liquor, nuts, etc. for variety if you wish.
  3. Pour the mixture into a silicon pan with your desired shapes and place in the fridge for about an hour. If you don't have any silicon pans, don't worry! You can pour the batter on top of a baking sheet inside a wide pan, cool, then break to pieces with your hands.
